Similar Pattern in Two Residential Burglaries in Same Neighborhood

On Wednesday, January 18, 2017, between 9:45 am and 8:50 pm, an unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear sliding glass door and entered the residence on Egret View, San Rafael.  The suspect(s) ransacked several rooms and took a gold tanzanite and opal ring valued at $5,000.  It is possible the victim arrived home and interrupted the suspect(s) because several items were moved, but only the ring appeared to be missing.

On Monday, January 30, 2017, at 7:07 am, San Rafael Police officers responded to a second residence on Egret View on a report of a burglary in-progress.  The victim heard the sound of breaking glass and subjects entering her house.  The victim hid in an upstairs bedroom as the suspect(s) were coming upstairs.  SRPD officers arrived on scene and entered the residence to protect the victim and check for the suspect(s).  Officers determined the suspect(s) fled the scene prior to their arrival.  The suspect(s) broke the rear glass sliding door and attempted to remove a safe but they fled the residence when confronted by the victim.  The suspect was 5'2"-5'4", stocky build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, and a pink cap or beanie under the hood of the sweatshirt.
