Suspect Sexually Batters Woman

San Rafael CA- On June 18, 2017 at approximately 10:50am, SRPD was contacted by a female who reported she had been attacked by a male suspect on the path behind Pickleweed Park and again on the path near Target.  The victim, a 46 year old San Rafael resident, was jogging on the path in two directions (out and back) when the suspect came up from behind her on at least 3 occasions and grabbed her body. The victim fought back each time and was able to get away from the suspect.  It is not known if the suspect followed her for the specific purpose of contacting her again, further out on the path or if he simply walked in that direction and saw the victim again.

A witness was nearby and saw the interaction between the suspect and the victim.  The witness thought they knew each other and were playing around. The witness later learned from the victim that what she saw was actually a sexual battery.  The witness walked to where the attack happened and saw the suspect seated on a bench.  The witness used her cellphone and took a picture of the suspect.  When this happened the suspect turned to hide his face.  (See attached)

On August 3, 2017, a composite drawing was created with the victim.  The suspect description and sketch are based upon the victim’s memory.

Suspect Description:  Hispanic male, 15 to 20 years old, Medium to heavy build – not obese, square face, Dark hair, windblown, shaved or very short sides, and long hair on top.  Eyes dark colored – close together.  No facial hair, good skin. (See sketch attached.)

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
