Wanted Person Arrested after Alert Citizen Notified Police

A suspect wanted in connection to a child sexual abuse case and burglaries was arrested Monday after an alert citizen called the San Rafael Police Department. On March 26, 2018 at approximately 1130 hours, an employee of a business in the 800 block of Las Gallinas called to report a suspicious person prowling in the area. According to the reporting party, the suspect was checking doors to closed businesses.  Officers began checking the area.

Nolberto Angel Maldonado Rodas, 22 years old, of San Rafael, was found hiding in some bushes nearby. Officers were aware that Maldonado Rodas was a suspect in a child sexual abuse case as well as a commercial burglary being investigated by San Rafael Police Detectives. After conferring with the detectives, Maldonado Rodas was arrested and taken into custody in connection with the sex abuse case. Subsequent investigation linked Maldonado Rodas to four separate commercial burglaries which occurred between December 2017 and early March 2018.

Maldonado is being held at the Marin County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
