Window Breaking Serial Vandalism Suspect Arrested

San Rafael, CA – On 12/06/2018, SRPD Officers arrested Miguel Angel Parra, a 47-year-old San Rafael resident, for twelve counts of vandalism in connection with twelve separate cases.

Starting in late August, SRPD began investigating a series of vandalisms at local businesses where the suspect was breaking windows with a rock.  By December, SRPD officers were investigating nearly 30 separate broken window vandalisms.  Each of the broken windows were larger style panes of glass valued above $400.00.

Officers were able to track down surveillance video in connection with some of the vandalisms but were limited by either low video quality or the suspect’s distance from the cameras which prevented immediate identification.  In December, a higher quality video was obtained which lead to the preliminary identification of the suspect.

On 12/06/2018, SRPD Downtown Foot Beat Police Officers located Miguel Angel Parra and arrested him for outstanding and unrelated Marin County arrest warrants.

After being taken into custody, Miguel Parra was interviewed and admitted to several of the reported cases.  Miguel Parra was arrested for twelve counts of felony vandalism in connection with twelve separate cases.  He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

SRPD Officers are continuing to investigate the remaining broken window vandalisms to determine if they are connected to Miguel Parra or another suspect(s).

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
