SRPD Investigating Robbery at Subway Sandwich Restaurant
San Rafael, CA– The San Rafael Police Department is investigating a suspect who entered a Subway sandwich restaurant, brandished a firearm, and robbed the clerk. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, 30 to 35 years of age, 5’-08”, with a short black beard, and wearing a black knit cap, red jacket, blue jeans, and white shoes,
On 12/27/2018, at 8:28 PM, SRPD Dispatch received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Subway sandwich restaurant located on Irwin Street in San Rafael. Officers arrived within two minutes and began investigating.
It was learned that at 8:15 PM, the suspect walked into the restaurant and waited to use the restroom. Several minutes later, the suspect left the restroom and approached the counter to order a sandwich.
The clerk finished making the sandwich and the suspect returned to the counter, opened his jacket, and displayed a firearm. The suspect demanded that the clerk give him the money in the register.
The clerk cooperated with the suspect and handed him an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect fled the restaurant with the money and the sandwich. The clerk was not harmed in the incident.
SRPD Officers checked the surrounding area and were unable to locate the suspect. SRPD did obtain surveillance video of the incident and are working to make an identification of the suspect.
