K-9 Jesko Finds Drugs and a Firearm in a Suspected Drug Dealer's Car
San Rafael, CA - In the afternoon of Thursday, April 16th, 2020, Wilford Allen, a 61-year-old Marin County resident, was arrested for having a large quantity of methamphetamine and a loaded firearm during a traffic stop made by a San Rafael Police K-9 Unit.
At 4:45 pm, Officer Scalercio and his K-9 partner “Jesko” were on police patrol in the area of Bellam Boulevard and Francisco Boulevard East, when Officer Scalercio observed a vehicle run a red traffic signal light. The K-9 unit made a traffic enforcement stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Wilford Allen.
While Allen was being issued a citation, Officer Scalercio used his K-9 partner “Jesko” to search the car for possible drugs.
During the search of the car, K-9 Jesko alerted to the presence of drugs in the trunk. K-9 Jesko and Officer Scalercio located a bag that contained a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine, a loaded .38 caliber revolver handgun, and a large sum of money associated with drug sales. Officer Scalercio also located a small amount of suspect heroin and cocaine. Allen is a convicted felon and is prohibited from owning and possessing firearms.
Allen was arrested and was booked into the Marin County Jail for 29800(a)(1) PC - Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, 11370.1(a) PC - Possess a Controlled Substance While Armed, 11378 H&S - Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales, and other additional drug possession charges.
