Juveniles Arrested for Armed Robbery

San Rafael, CA – On Monday evening, March 17, 2025, San Rafael Police Officers responded to an armed robbery involving a handgun on a bike path and arrested two of the three suspects involved.  One suspect fled the scene and was not located.  All the suspects were identified as juveniles.  The two juveniles that were arrested were booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall on numerous felony charges, which included robbery and possession of a firearm.

Just after 7:00 PM, SRPD’s dispatch center began receiving 9-1-1 calls about an armed robbery that had just occurred. The robbery was reported to have occurred on the bike path that parallels US-101 and Lincoln Avenue near Paloma Avenue in San Rafael.

Officers arrived on the scene within minutes and obtained suspect descriptions.  It was also learned that one of the three suspects used a handgun during the robbery.

Additional officers searching for the suspects located two of them in the area of Fourth Street and Hetherton Street.  The suspects were detained without incident.  As the suspects were being detained, one was observed trying to hide items and stolen property behind a tree.  Officers located a loaded handgun concealed in the discarded items.  The firearm did not have a serial number on it.  An un-serialized gun is often referred to as “ghost gun” which is illegal to possess or own.

Officers recognized one of the juveniles from a previous robbery arrest that occurred in February of this year. Officers and detectives are actively working to locate the third suspect in this case.

The two arrested juveniles were booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall.  A 17-year-old juvenile was booked for felony armed robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime.  The other juvenile, a 16-year-old, was booked for felony armed robbery, carrying a concealed firearm, possessing a firearm without a serial number, a minor in possession of a firearm, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

In this case, the victim was not physically injured and had the stolen items returned to them.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
