Officers Rescue Kidnapping Victim; Three Suspects Arrested with Loaded Firearm
San Rafael, CA – On Saturday, October 11, 2025, SRPD Officers responded to a report of a kidnapping and assault in progress on Robert Dollar Drive in San Rafael. A female victim was rescued, and three suspects were arrested. Sergio Godinez-Lopez, Christopher Moneroso, and Jonathan Valenzuela-Castro were all booked into the Marin County Jail on numerous felony charges that included kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a loaded gun.
Just before 9:45 PM, SRPD dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call from a female victim reporting that she had been kidnapped and was being taken to an unknown location. Dispatchers used GPS information and determined the victim was on Robert Dollar Drive in San Rafael. The victim reported that the three suspects in the vehicle were doing drugs and that one of them possessed a knife. Officers immediately responded to the area.
Within minutes, the first officer arrived on the scene and could hear the victim screaming for help. The officer drove toward the screaming and located the victim as the involved suspect vehicle fled the scene. The officer radioed that the vehicle was fleeing the scene, and officers from SRPD’s Crime Suppression Team found and stopped it a few blocks away.
All three suspects in the vehicle, identified as Godinez-Lopez, Monteroso, and Valenzuela-Castro, were detained during the investigation. While being detained and during a search, Valenzuela-Castro was found to have a concealed and loaded handgun. The firearm had a high-capacity magazine.
During the investigation, it was learned that the victim and the suspects arranged to meet via an “app” in San Rafael’s Canal neighborhood. Once the suspects picked up the victim, they decided to change the plans, and the victim asked to be let go. The suspects refused and drove the victim to the open space area of Robert Dollar Drive. The suspects initially prevented the victim from fleeing and, at one point, threatened her with a knife. The victim called 9-1-1 and eventually escaped. As the victim escaped, she began to scream, and that was when the officer located her. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene as the officer approached.
The suspects were subsequently arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail.
Godinez-Lopez, a 24-year-old Vallejo resident, was booked for kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a crime, and drug possession.
Monteroso, a 21-year-old San Rafael resident, was booked for kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault with a deadly weapon-knife, and criminal threats.
Valenzuela-Castro, a 21-year-old San Rafael resident, was booked for kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault with the intent to commit rape, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm, and possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine.
