Homicide Investigation Update

On Saturday June 4, 2022, just before midnight, the San Rafael Police Department Dispatch Center received a phone call about a male who had collapsed near the intersection of Medway Road and Mill Street in San Rafael. Responding officers discovered a Hispanic male adult who had been shot.  The San Rafael Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died due to his injuries.

SRPD Detectives took over this investigation and developed significant leads in this case.  Their investigation led them to identify Alan Estuardo Aceitu Perez, a 20-year-old resident of Novato, as a suspect in this case.  On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, officers from the San Rafael Police Department, the Novato Police Department, and deputies from the Marin County Sheriff’s Department came together in an effort to locate Aceitu Perez.  At about 8:00 pm, Aceitu Perez was located in the 500 block of Alameda Del Prado in Novato.  He was arrested without incident.

Aceitu Perez was brought back to the San Rafael Police Department for processing and was booked at the Marin County Jail for 187 PC- Murder.

This case is still active, and detectives are pursuing additional leads.  We are requesting assistance from the public and is asking anyone who witnessed this incident to call the San Rafael Police Department at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips
