Five Suspects Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon
On Wednesday August 23, 2017 at approximately 6:17 p.m. Officers responded to a fight in progress in the 1300 block of Lincoln Avenue. A witness reported the involved subjects were armed with knives and one person had been stabbed.
The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. The victim, a 23 year-old male from San Rafael was found with a stab wound to his lower back. He was transported to Marin General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses told officers that five suspects drove up to the victim in a silver Mercedes sedan. The vehicle stopped and four suspects got out. The suspects approached the victim and his friend. One suspect stabbed the victim before all of the parties began fighting. The suspects ran back to their car and fled south bound on Lincoln Avenue.
At approximately 6:45 p.m. Officer Travis Ruggles was patrolling the area of Windward Way when he saw a silver Mercedes matching the description of the suspect vehicle. There were five males in the car. Officer Ruggles attempted contact with the suspects, who, by now had parked the car. Two suspects began running from the scene. Officer Ruggles was able to detain the three remaining suspects until additional officers arrived. Officer Adams located and detained the two suspects who ran.
Witnesses to the attack positively identified the suspects as the people they saw during the assault. Dixon Hernandez Gonzalez, 19 of San Rafael; Santiago Hernandez Lopez, 21 of San Rafael; Jefferson Lopez 18 of Corte Madera; Brian Rodas Gramajo 23 of San Rafael and Brian Silin, 19 of San Rafael were arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Participation in a Criminal Street Gang and Conspiracy. There were booked at the Marin County Jail. The incident is believed to be gang related.
