SMART Train to Shut Down Portions of Second and Third Streets in San Rafael

San Rafael, CA - The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) will be closing portions of Second and Third Streets in San Rafael on two consecutive weekends in June, due to the construction of the Larkspur Ferry Terminal extension. The weekend closures will be as follows:

Second Street will be closed from Tamalpais Avenue to Hetherton Street, beginning on Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m. Second Street will remain closed all day Saturday, June 1st, all day Sunday, June 2nd and reopening on Monday, June 3rd at 4 a.m.

Third Street will be closed from Heatherton St. to Tamalpais Avenue, beginning on Friday, June 7 at 8 p.m. Third Street will remain closed all day Saturday, June 8th, all day Sunday, June 9th and reopening on Monday, June 10th at 4 a.m.

Businesses in the area will remain open during the construction work.  Detour signs will be in place during the closure. No pedestrian or vehicular traffic will be allowed in the construction area.

The San Rafael Police Department encourages everyone to plan ahead and use alternate routes. Allow for plenty of time to reach your destination.
