14 Cited at San Rafael DUI Checkpoint
San Rafael, CA – Fourteen people were issued citations for driving without a license or driving on a suspended license and four people performed field sobriety tests at a DUI checkpoint on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The DUI checkpoint was held on Lincoln Avenue at the intersection with Grand Avenue from 6:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
570 vehicles passed through the checkpoint resulting in 31 vehicles being contacted. Of the 31 vehicles that were stopped, 13 were issued citations for operating a vehicle while unlicensed and one person was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
