Solo Vehicle Fatal Collision

San Rafael, CA – On 12/29/19, at 10:43 PM, the San Rafael Police Department received a call of a vehicle collision where one of the involved vehicles had rolled over in the area of Fifth Avenue and Irwin Street.

San Rafael police officers arrived on the scene within two minutes of receiving the call. Officers found the sole occupant of the rolled-over vehicle to be an elderly female who was unresponsive. Officers broke out the windshield to remove the injured driver from the car and immediately began performing CPR until San Rafael Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene. Paramedics arrived on the scene and took over life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the driver was never revived and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Officers determined that the driver struck an unoccupied parked vehicle which caused the vehicle to roll over. The cause of the collision is unknown at this time. The San Rafael Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the cause. The identification of the driver is being withheld pending notifications made by the Marin County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
