Fatal Collision in Downtown San Rafael

San Rafael, CA - On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, the San Rafael Police Department received a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and vehicle at the corner of Fourth Street and G Street, in San Rafael. SRPD Officers responded to the area and located an unresponsive person and immediately began performing CPR. The San Rafael Fire Department arrived on scene and at approximately 0820 hours, the pedestrian was declared deceased.

The initial investigation revealed a large white box truck was driving north bound on G Street and approached the intersection of Fourth Street. There was a pedestrian crossing the cross walk west bound at Fourth Street and G Street. It appears the vehicle proceeded through the cross walk and struck the pedestrian, causing fatal injuries.

The driver remained on the scene and it does not appear that there were drugs or alcohol involved in the collision. The SRPD Major Accident Investigation Team has been called out and the investigation is ongoing.
