SLOW THE FAST DOWN!

San Rafael, CA - The San Rafael Police Department needs YOU to help reduce speeding violations.

SRPD continues to see numerous speeding violations and incidents.  We also continue to receive a high volume of traffic complaints regarding speeding.   Most citations issued last year and this year have been for speeding violations.

Enforcement is important, but we can’t be everywhere; it really comes down to choices made by an individual driver.  Be the driver that makes a choice to slow down and drive safer,” said Police Chief David Spiller.

In 2020, the latest statistics available, 11,258 people were killed in speeding-involved crashes throughout the country.  This is a 17% increase over 2019 — and early projections for 2021 indicate even more people d  ed in crashes linked to speeding.  In addition, California had nearly 7,000 work zone crashes in 2020.  Speeding accounted for nearly 40% of those crashes.

Don’t let the next speeding victim be you.  SLOW THE FAST DOWN!
