One Person Wounded in Early Morning Shooting

San Rafael, CA – Four suspects are wanted for questioning after an early morning shooting that occurred in the Safeway parking lot in the Terra Linda neighborhood of San Rafael.

On Sunday morning, September 3rd at 1:01 AM, San Rafael Police Dispatch received multiple 911 Emergency calls reporting shots fired in the area of Safeway, 950 Las Gallinas Avenue, San Rafael.  Officers arrived and located a 30-year-old male from Novato with gunshot wounds.  San Rafael Fire Department transported the victim to the hospital with serious injuries.

The initial investigation determined that a group of individuals were gathered in the Safeway parking lot when they were approached by another group.  Words were exchanged between the two groups and then one of the involved suspects began shooting.  Two bullets struck the victim, and a third bullet entered the bedroom window of a nearby residence.  All four suspects fled the scene and remain at-large.  The suspects were last seen walking Eastbound through the Northgate 1 parking lot.

Shortly after the suspects fled the scene, a San Rafael Police Officer saw one of the involved suspects on the Redwood Highway frontage road adjacent to Highway 101.  Upon seeing the officer, the suspect fled into the area of the creek on the East side of Redwood Highway.  Officers requested the assistance of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and Novato Police Department Canine Unit but were unable to locate the suspect.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
