Three Suspects Arrested for Early Morning Auto Burglary

San Rafael, CA – On the morning of Sunday, January 7, 2024, SRPD Officers and Detectives arrested Oscar Noe Nunez-Rivera, a 30-year-old San Rafael Resident, Victor Manuel Orellana, a 46-year-old San Rafael resident, and Marco Antonio Vasquez-Paxtor, a 29-year-old Marin City resident, shortly after they committed a vehicle burglary that occurred in San Rafael’s West End neighborhood.  The suspects were observed fleeing the scene in a U-Haul rental van that officers later stopped.  Quantities of stolen property were in the vehicle and recovered.

Just before 5:00 AM, a victim reported that their vehicle had just been burglarized in the 200 block of Santa Margarita Drive in San Rafael.  The victim stated that they observed the suspects flee the scene in a U-Haul rental van.

Officers responded to the scene and watched surveillance video of the incident.  After starting a vehicle burglary investigation, officers remained in the area for some time in an effort to locate the van and the suspects.

Just after 6:30 AM, officers observed the U-Haul rental van driving westbound on Fourth Street from San Anselmo.  The vehicle was stopped, and officers observed quantities of suspected stolen property through the van’s windows.  Officers detained the driver, Marco Antonio Vasquez-Paxtor, and the two passengers, Victor Manuel Orellana and Oscar Noe Nunez-Rivera.

The van and portions of the stolen property inside were connected to the vehicle burglary reported on Santa Margarita Drive.  The clothing of the detained individuals also matched what was observed in the surveillance video.  As a result of this evidence, all three suspects were arrested in connection with the burglary.  Vasquez-Paxtor, who was driving the U-Haul rental van, was found to be on Marin County Probation from a previous stolen vehicle conviction and was also determined to be an employee at a local U-Haul business.

Vasquez-Paxtor, Orellana, and Nunez-Rivera were booked into the Marin County Jail on charges of felony vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and conspiracy to commit burglary.  Nunez-Rivera had an added charge of drug possession, and Vasquez-Paxtor had an additional charge of violating the terms of his probation.

SRPD Detectives are looking into additional crimes involving the use of a U-Haul rental van along with descriptions of suspects matching that of the three arrested.  Detectives will also sort through the additional recovered stolen property in an effort to return it to the rightful owners.

The property stolen from the Santa Margarita vehicle burglary will be returned to the victim.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
