SRPD Honors our Public Safety Communications Dispatchers

Celebrating National Telecommunications Week

San Rafael, CA – Each year, the second full week of April is dedicated to the personnel across the country that serve as public safety telecommunicators.  This April 9th through the 15th is the perfect week to demonstrate appreciation and share a simple “thank you” to all the Dispatcher personnel here in the City of San Rafael for the extraordinary level of support these professional staff members offer our community throughout the year.

National Telecommunicators Week provides the opportunity to celebrate, honor, and publicly focus on the immeasurable value of the role all professional dispatchers play in our mission of public safety.  All these professionals are heroes on the other end of the phone and the other end of the radio.

The San Rafael Community depends on the skill, expertise, and commitment of all these public safety professionals who work in public safety telecommunications.  This tireless workforce of knowledgeable and highly trained individuals helps save countless lives by answering emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching first responders, and providing support to citizens in distress; all day, all night, all year long.

“These first responders are dedicated members who work behind the scenes to provide a voice to people in need.  SRPD’s Dispatch personnel, who function as the hub of the department, offer guidance and assistance to our officers responding to critical incidents and routine calls day-to-day,” said Police Chief David Spiller.  “Our Public Safety Communications staff thrive in a growing and developing role, and they stand tall in a critical role in our emergency world.”

Please join our entire police department in sharing our appreciation and offer a simple “thank you” to our 9-1-1 and call-taking Telecommunications personnel this special recognition week.
