San Rafael, CA – San Rafael Police Department is investigating the homicide of a 28-year-old woman whose body was discovered this evening on Andersen Drive. Officers responded to the scene and located the victim with apparent stab wounds, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family, friends, and loved ones during this distressing time. 

At approximately 6:15pm, the San Rafael Police Department received a report of a woman who was unresponsive on Andersen Drive. Police arrived and found the woman in an area that was occupied by several unhoused individuals between Lindaro Street and Irwin Street.  This incident was centered on an encampment blocks away and not associated with the City’s Sanctioned Camping Area on Mahone Path.

The San Rafael Fire Department arrived on scene to render medical aid, but the victim had already succumbed to her injuries.  We are withholding the victims’ name until next of kin can be notified.  Contact the Marin County Coroner’s Office for details. 

This investigation is ongoing and we are asking anyone who may have been in the Andersen Drive area around 5:30pm to 6:00pm on Saturday March 14, 2026, or who may have seen anything suspicious or has information related to this incident, to contact the San Rafael Police Department immediately.
