San Rafael, CA - The San Rafael Police Department is proud to announce our third Spanish Community Police Academy to serve our San Rafael Spanish-speaking community.

The Community Police Academy (CPA) was paused due to the pandemic.  This is an exciting ten-week program hosted by the San Rafael Police Department.   The CPA is offered free of charge and is a hands-on, interactive, behind-the-scenes program taught by experienced police department employees who share their unique perspectives on law enforcement.

The classes will be held every Wednesday night starting March 22nd, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The CPA will conclude with a graduation ceremony on May 24th, 2023.  The classes will be held at the San Rafael Public Safety Center at 1375 Fifth Avenue in San Rafael.  The class size will be limited to approximately 25 participants.

Topics covered will include crime scene investigations, narcotics investigations, traffic collision investigations, DUI enforcement, SWAT operations and equipment, use of force, and de-escalation tactics.  There will be an opportunity to go on a ride-a-long with a police officer, a ride-a-long on the patrol boat - "Mission City,” and an optional use of force simulator class.

Applicants must reside, work, or attend school in San Rafael.  You must be at least 18 years or older.  Classes will be conducted by bilingual San Rafael Police Department personnel.
